"News you can Use", Economist section talks about "site where readers choose the stories and vote for those they find interesting". In our previous class discussion there were number of students with uncertainties about information that is posted on the blogs. Some believe that the information provided might have not been accurate. However, In reading "News you can Use" one of the interesting thing that I came across is the feature that allows the user at digg.com to "add a warning to an item if they believe it to be biased or inaccurate..."
With over 500,000 thousand registered user, and the fact that it may provide more accurate information as opposed to blogger, eventually will the public prefer to switch over to digg.com as opposed to blogging?

Benjamin,
You bring up a great point about the validity of entries on social news sites. As you mentioned, Digg has a feature that allows you to report something as inaccurate. If enough people also do the same, it'll state such below the entry headline (just as Wikipedia does).
As far as your other point, I don't think that social news will ever completely replace "traditional" news; it might, however, act as a supplement and have an increasing market share. Many of the entries that are "dugg" come from traditional news sites, or from blogs that report about traditional news sites. Online news and traditional news is becoming increasingly intertwined.
Another interesting thing to see is if traditional news outlets begin to adopt some of the features introduced be social news outlets rather than vice verca. I'm not implying that the New York Times will allow users to vote on what makes it above the fold, but rather allow voting on certain aspects of their publication (even if it is only the online edition).
Hi Dave-
Yes, I certainly would agree with you after visiting digg.com several times. Some informatio though is as Mike called it "crap" but on the other hand I would argue that it really depends as how you look at it and which information/news are you looking for.
