We have to be careful as what we say and how we say things nowadays as it can affect our future. The article by Langfit “Startups Help Clean Up online Reputations” is as the title states your “reputations” and how employers can track you down on myspace.com and face book in order to find out more information about you as well as your character!
The article points out that several “College students were getting denied jobs after college because of content about them on the Internet.”(Langfit) Okay, college life hopefully is not all about studying but at the same time having fun as well. Currently there are about 85% of students who are using face book (http://www.techcrunch.com/2005/09/08/wsfinder-a-wiki-for-open-apis/) and many of them do have fun, but do not know about that they can be turned down for a job because of their jokes. I can see this tool being beneficial for the company’s but after students realize that they are being watched by someone, somewhere they have applied for a job, this certainly will change how they will act and what information they will be putting out there; especially if it can be available for public view.

So, maybe it is a good idea to encourage people to display what is going on in their personal lives. 1) If a person is going to abuse their power or somehow cheat the system, there are ways to find out before they get hired. 2) Maybe employers should deal with the fact their employees are real people too...
After I blogged about almost the same thing, I read your blog and you made me think of these! Good job!
I remember someone from our class mentioned that he was denied from getting a job because he has facebook or something like that.
I believe that the rules and strategies of recruiting should be revaluated as so many people like to have fun but they are also hard workers.
Also I do not believe everything in the internet as a lot of people would post false information about themselves or about others.
At the same time, I think also that as long as the person does not have any criminal records (in which he/she has killed someone, or that is talking about it on the facebook or myspace) should be ok for the companies to hire the applicants. I mean, people do make mistakes, especially students like "us" like to joke around without realizing that someone, somewhere is watching upon us.
